When To Call a Podiatrist
*You have persistent pain in your feet or ankles.
*You have noticeable changes to your skin or nails.
* There are blisters on your feet.
*Your feet are cracking, scaling, peeling or itching on your feet or heels.
* There are signs of bacterial infection including:
Increased pain, swelling, redness, tenderness or heat.
* Red streaks extending from the affected area.
* Presence of pus on skin, wound, ulceration or toe nail.
* Fever of 100F or higher with no other explanation.
* Symptoms that do not improve after two weeks of treatment
with a non prescription product.
* Spreading of the infection to other areas, such as the nail bed,
or skin under the nail, the nail itself, or the surrounding skin.
* Your toenail is getting thicker and causing you discomfort.
* You have heel pain accompanied by fever, redness, warmth,
numbness or tingling, persistent pain without weight bearing and the
pain is not relieved by ice, aspirin, Tylenol or ibuprofen.
*You have diabetes and/or other diseases associated with poor circulation and you develop athlete’s foot or any other infection or inflammation of the feet. People with diabetes are at great risk with any type of infection.
